The 24 years old  was awarded a $50,000 scholarship and the job of Miss America for one year which includes the opportunity to travel all over the world.

Victoria Hill, Miss Georgia, who won the talent competition during the first day of preliminaries was named the first runner up and she awarded a $25,000 scholarship. Second runner up was Miss Missouri, Simone Esters while the third runner up was Miss Oklahoma Addison Price. Miss Connecticut Jillian Duffy, finished as fourth runner up.

Schrier became the first delegate to be crowned under Miss America's new 2.0 standards. The new format ditched swimsuit and evening gown competitions in order to stop judging women on how they look and to give contestants more time to advocate for their social impact initiatives, The organization announced in 2018.

“We’ve heard from a lot of young women who say, ‘We’d love to be a part of your program, but we don’t want to be out there in high heels and a swimsuit,’ so guess what, you don’t have to anymore,” Gretchen Carlson told GMA last year.

Miss America's new 2.0 standards have hit a sour note immediately after the competition has finished as viewers took to social media to express criticism of the competition's new format.

On Twitter one user called Kate Gatsby wrote " Miss America 2.0 is trash. This is a train wreck, crashed into a dumpster and caught on fire. But just like every disaster, I can’t look away. It can’t get worse, but I refuse to change the channel and risk missing it go down in flames."  Newsweek reported.

Another user wrote "What is happening right now? Why are the judges giving feedback on the responses? What in the 'America's Got Talent' is going on here? I don't like it. All the hard work of these girls and they're getting eliminated like that?! This is awful."

"This new #MissAmerica format however, did not make us proud. I'm sorry, but this attempt to turn it into American Idol is just cheesy and came across as desperate,"Mike Dubberly, a Good Day Alabama anchor wrote.

“Access Hollywood” Hosts Kit Hoover And Mario Lopez hosted the competition. This year's judging panel were: Queer Eye's Culture Expert Karamo Brown, actress Kelly Rowland and “Superstore” star Lauren Ash.
