Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica was named Miss world 2019, which is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant, at the ExCeL London in London,UK, on Saturday, 14 Dec.

Singh won the coveted title after competing against  110 contestants from all over the world. Ophely Mezino of France was the first runner up while Suman Rao of India placed the second runner up.

                   

The 23-year-old  impresses the judges and entire audience during the event when she starts to sing  “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.  Singh previously told The Gleaner that she love to sing since she was child and music was a big part of her life.

"I've been singing since I was very young. I sang in church with the children's choir, and I've been classically trained since I was nine." she said.

       

Singh, who became the fourth woman from Jamaica to win the Miss World title, was born in Morant, St. Thomas, Jamaica but she moved to US with her family at the age of nine. She holds a psychology and women studies degree from the Florida State University and currently she aspires to be a medical doctor according to Miss World Website.

"To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world - please believe in yourself. Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine but yours. You have a PURPOSE," Singh posted on her Twitter account

Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty were :

- Africa : Miss Nigeria, Nyekachi Douglas

- Americas : Miss Brazil,  Elís Miele Coelho

- Asia : Miss India, Suman Rao

_ Caribbean : Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Tya Janè Ramey

- Europe : Miss France, Ophély Mézino

_ Oceania : Miss Cook Islands,   Tajiya Eikura Sahay

This year, black women dominate all grand beauty pageants ( Miss America, Miss USA, Miss USA Teen, Miss Universe, Miss World.)
